چکیده
Xanthomonas oryzae pv. (Xoo), the causal agent of rice bacterial blight disease has been extensively characterized, and loci against different races identified. Many cultivars have developed utilized to combat disease, however, due rapid evolution Xoo, several resistances broken down. The continuous challenge ever-evolving Xoo breakdown resistance in cultivated varieties make it even more important discover new enable sustainable durable deployment broad-spectrum genes elite breeding lines. African germplasm can be exploited as reservoirs useful genetic variation for (BB) resistance. This study was conducted identify associated with BB donors program. To candidate sources advancing breeding, four virulent strains (PXO99, MAI1, BAI3, Xoo3-1) were used screen 78 East accessions by genome-wide association studies. diverse accessions' core base exhibited high strains. 50.63% highly resistant Philippines strain PX099, while 20.25% susceptible West MAI1. Two novel significantly hotspots identified using 1901 SNPs. two hits located on chromosome 12 (Xa25) Chr. 6 (Xa7, Xa27, Xa33). Novel that gives a basis investigation wide pool improvement. Genome-wide association analysis identifies resistance loci for bacterial blight in a diverse collection of indica rice germplasm
Bacterial blight, which is caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), is one of the most devastating rice diseases worldwide. The development and use of disease-resistant cultivars have been the most effective strategy to control bacterial blight. Identifying the genes mediating bacterial blight resistance is a prerequisite for breeding cultivars with broad-spectrum and durable resistance. ...
متن کاملUnveiling the genetic loci for a panicle developmental trait using genome-wide association study in rice
Panicle size has a high correlation with grain yield in rice. There is a bottleneck to identify the additional quantitative trait loci (QTL) for panicle size due to the conventional traits used for QTL mapping. To identify more genetic loci for panicle size, a panicle developmental trait (LNTB, the length from panicle neck-knot to the first primary branch in the rachis) related to panicle size ...
متن کاملUnmasking Novel Loci for Internal Phosphorus Utilization Efficiency in Rice Germplasm through Genome-Wide Association Analysis
Depletion of non-renewable rock phosphate reserves and phosphorus (P) fertilizer price increases has renewed interest in breeding P-efficient varieties. Internal P utilization efficiency (PUE) is of prime interest because there has been no progress to date in breeding for high PUE. We characterized the genotypic variation for PUE present within the rice gene pool by using a hydroponic system th...
متن کاملGenome-Wide Association Study in East Asians Identifies Novel Susceptibility Loci for Breast Cancer
Genetic factors play an important role in the etiology of both sporadic and familial breast cancer. We aimed to discover novel genetic susceptibility loci for breast cancer. We conducted a four-stage genome-wide association study (GWAS) in 19,091 cases and 20,606 controls of East-Asian descent including Chinese, Korean, and Japanese women. After analyzing 690,947 SNPs in 2,918 cases and 2,324 c...
متن کاملQuantitative Trait Loci Mapping for Bacterial Blight Resistance in Rice Using Bulked Segregant Analysis
Oryza meyeriana is highly resistant to rice bacterial blight (BB) and this resistance trait has been transferred to cultivated rice (O. sativa) using asymmetric somatic hybridization. However, no resistance genes have yet been cloned. In the present study, a progeny of the somatic hybridization with high BB resistance was crossed with a rice cultivar with high BB susceptibility to develop an F2...
